IHEA is offering its distance learning course, Fundamentals of Industrial Process Heating this Fall.  The on-line course offers you the opportunity to keep current with industrial process heating in the comfort and convenience of your own workplace or home. The course is designed to give you the flexibility you need, with the interaction with an instructor and forums to communicate with other students in your class.

The course is taught over a 7 week period (there is a week break during Thanksgiving).  Each week students will be assigned a chapter to read from the Fundamental of Process Heating coursebook (electronic version included with course registration), and expected to participate in on-line forum discussions and complete weekly quizzes.  There is a final exam project which will be assigned during the fifth week of class. The instructor will be available during email to respond to questions and provide clarification.

Course Description:
This course provides an overview of the fundamentals of heat transfer, fuels and combustion, energy use, furnace design, refractories, automatic control, and atmospheres as applied to industrial process heating.  Students will gain a basic understanding of heat transfer principles, fuels and combustion equipment, electric heating and instrumentation and control for efficient operation of furnaces and ovens in process heating.
