Presentation Highlights & Speakers

Interesting Political Times

By the time we meet in Colorado Springs, we will have endured even more of our seemingly endless presidential campaign, but we’ll be closer to knowing the outcomes for both parties.  Against that backdrop, we will have several fun discussions regarding American politics today!

Our Wacky Political System
Lt. Colonel Joseph Foster

United States Air Force

Americans love to complain about the government!  Lt. Colonel Foster, an Assistant Professor in the Political Science Department at the United States Air Force Academy, suggests several sources for the general public discontent, ranging from the original constitutional framework, to structural characteristics of the federal government itself, to changing dynamics of the American electorate.  He also argues that, far from being a particular phenomenon of the 21st-century, healthy (and unhealthy) debate about politics is a consistent historical hallmark of the American political system.

The 2016 Roller Coaster Presidential Campaign

David Goch, Esquire

Webster, Chamberlain & Bean

We’ll follow up Colonel Foster’s presentation with insight from IHEA’s legal counsel, David Goch, on his take on the most unusual election in American history.  Never one to stray from how he really views things, this election cycle has perplexed even David Goch.  Whether you agree or disagree, David always provides food for thought.  His 2016 election preview promises to deliver plenty of that!

Annual Economic Update

Chris Kuehl, Economist

Armada Corporate Intelligence

Chris serves as IHEA’s economist and is the author of our monthly Executive Economic Summary Report and has been joining us for the past several years to provide our members with an economic update and a peek at the future.  He’ll share his thoughts on what transpired in 2015 and provide a forecast of what’s to come throughout 2016.  Always informative and entertaining, Chris Kuehl’s is one of IHEA’s Annual Meeting highlights!

The TRUTH about Leadership!

CM Sergeant Bob Vásquez, Retired

United States Air Force

There are many things you’ve been taught about leadership, says CM Sergeant Bob Vásquez, that are, to put it simply, WRONG!  Leadership requires action:  WRONG!  Leaders lead from the front:  WRONG!  The truth about leadership is…

Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Bob Vásquez is currently a Course Director at the United States Air Force Academy’s Center for Character Development, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  He is also an accomplished author, musician, speaker, life coach, and mentor.  However, the accomplishment of which he is most proud is his family.  You’ll be intrigued by CM Sergeant Vázquez’s unique perspective on leadership.
