Brian Kelly

Honewell Thermal Solutions

Brian Kelly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and has 20 years of experience. He is currently responsible for worldwide sales, technical and application support for industrial products, and has held positions as Technical Sales Coordinator, Project Engineer, R&D Laboratory Manager, Systems Engineering Manager, General Manager of Sales, and Technology and Applications Manager. Brian serves as Chairman of the Education Committee and Combustion Seminar for IHEA and is on the Energy & Utilities Technology Committee for AIST. He has authored numerous articles for the heat processing industry in Heat Treating Progress and Industrial Heating.

Seminar Presenters:
Bryan Baesel, CEC Combustion Safety
Bryan is a Professional Engineer who specializes in the design and field inspection of combustion equipment. He is a member of NFPA 85 and NFPA 86 along with several Fortune 100 combustion program teams. Prior to joining CEC, Mr. Baesel worked at a foundry and for a natural gas utility.


B.J. Bernard, Surface Combustion
B.J. is President of Surface Combustion, Inc.  Prior to his current position, he served as Director, Technical Services / R&D where he oversaw new product development, new technology implementation, advanced mathematical modeling and metallurgical analysis.  B.J. is also immediate Past President of IHEA and a Board Member of the Center for Heat Treating Excellence.  He holds an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a B.S. in Physics from Bowdoin College.

Michael Cochran, Bloom Engineering Co., Inc.
After earning a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical engineering at Notre Dame, Michael worked for a few years at a Furnace OEM before landing at Bloom Engineering in Pittsburgh, PA.  He has been there six years and is currently a Marketing Engineer specializing in combustion systems.  While at Bloom, he has also served as an applications engineer and is interested in thermal modeling of steel furnaces.

Curt Colopy, INEX, Inc.
Curt Colopy is VP for Product and Business Development at INEX Incorporated, The Radiant Tube CompanyTM.  He directs development and sales of advanced Si-SiC composite U-Tubes, SER's, Internally-Finned and Straight-Wall tubes for heat-treating furnaces and other high-temperature applications.  Over the years Curt has managed several businesses in Structural and electronic ceramics, after starting his career at The Carborundum Company where Silicon Carbide was first invented.


Scott Fogle, SCC Inc.
Scott Fogle is a Sales Engineering with Siemens Combustion Controls Inc. He holds a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron.  Scott has experience working for a burner manufacturer with burner product management responsibilities.

Ryan McClain, Honeywell Thermal Solutions
Ryan is a Sales Engineer with Honeywell Thermal Solutions. He is based out of Cincinnati, OH. Ryan started his career in 2002 with Maxon Corporation then came to Honeywell through the Maxon acquisition in 2007. Ryan has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Xavier University.

Steve Mickey, WS Thermal Inc. 
Steve is a Technical Sales Engineer with WS Thermal Process Technology.  He has been with the company for over 15 years in total.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University.  He is also a member of the IHEA Safety Standards & Codes Committee.

Michael Murrin, Maxon - A Honeywell Company
Michael’s 31 year career in thermal transfer technology includes 14 years with Maxon and 10 years with Honeywell’s industrial combustion businesses, serving in field sales and application engineering.  He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science from University of Connecticut. He is a Professional Engineer, and a member of IHEA’s Safety Standards & Codes committee.

Wayne Pettyjohn, Georgia Power
Wayne has been in the electric utility industry for 37 years with the last 29 years working with industrial accounts, providing assistance with manufacturing processes and energy efficiency.  He is the Manufacturing Applications Manager for Georgia Power's Customer Resource Center.  Wayne studied Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech and is a Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor and Certified Green Building Engineer.


John Podach, Fostoria Process Equipment, division of TPI Corp.
John is the Southeast Sales Manager of Fostoria Process Equipment, a Division of TPI Corp. in Johnson City, TN. He has worked at Fostoria since 1976 in assembly, lab management, R&D and sales manager of custom engineered infrared and hot air ovens and material handling systems.

Max Raffoul, CEC Combustion Safety
Mr. Raffoul is a combustion engineer who specializes in the design and field commissioning of Industrial Process Heating Equipment. He earned his degree in Combustion Engineering from St. Clair College of Applied Arts in Windsor, Ontario in 1974. He is a licensed G1 Gas Tech in Canada and has participated in the development of many US and Canadian standards.

Bob Sanderson, Honeywell Thermal Solutions 
Bob is a registered Professional Engineer, and is Honeywell-Eclipse's chief applications engineer.  He has in excess of 25 years industrial installation and practical application experience across a variety of combustion and thermal applications.  Prior to joining Eclipse  Bob was the primary thermal and applied process expert for a global corporation which built automotive and aerospace assembly plants.  Bob holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Michigan.

Mike Shay, Heat Combustion Solutions
Mike is Director of Sales and Product Support for Heat Combustion Solutions in Cincinnati, Ohio. Heat Combustion Solutions offers technical and field services for combustion systems, installation of combustion systems and sales of combustion systems and controls. Prior to working for Heat Combustion Solutions, Mike was with Hauck Manufacturing Company for 37 years where he worked in Field Service and Engineering. Mike also was Vice President of Sales and served as Hauck’s President.  Mike serves on IHEA’s Executive committee and serves on the IHEA Board of Directors.
