IHEA is committed to growing the industrial heating industry by providing quality educational and training opportunities.  From in person seminars to online videos and courses, IHEA has something for everyone.

The mission of IHEA is to provide services that will enhance member company capabilities to serve end users in the industrial heat processing industry and improve the business performance of member companies. Consistent with that mission, IHEA supports and produces training on industrial heat processing outlined below.

Combustion Seminar - The two-day Combustion Seminar provides attendees with current and relevant information from experts in combustion technologies covering all areas of combustion includes burners, flame safety, controls, design, infrared process heating and more. The seminar is designed for persons responsible for the operation, design, selection and/or maintenance of fuel-fired industrial process furnaces and ovens.

Fall Safety Seminar - The popular two-day Safety Standards & Codes Seminar reviews the NFPA 86 standard for ovens and furnaces, including updated requirements for many areas of safety.  Sessions  are presented by speakers directly involved in the NFPA 86 review and formulation cover the required uses of the American National Standards governing the compliant design and operation of ovens and furnaces.

Induction Seminar The one-day Induction Seminar offers a full day of training on induction technology, equipment, processes, installation and benefits.   Attendees will learn how to improve plant processes, energy efficiency, productivity and quality from members of IHEA’s new Induction Division.  The sessions in this seminar will provide a complete understanding of induction technology and review case studies to learn the advantages it affords.

Fundamentals of Process Heating - Online Course - IHEA also offers an on-line six-week course on the Fundamentals of Process Heating which is a great option for training if you can't get out of the office.  This intensive course covers provides an overview of the fundamentals of heat transfer, fuels and combustion, energy use, furnace design, refractories, automatic control, and atmospheres as applied to industrial process heating.  Students will gain a basic understanding of heat transfer principles, fuels and combustion equipment, electric heating and instrumentation and control for efficient operation of furnaces and ovens in process heating.

Training Material
IHEA also offers training manuals and videos for purchase or download in our store. In addition to IHEA's own Infrared Process Heating Handbook for Industrial Processes and Heat Processing Manual, IHEA also offers publications from Vulkan-Verlag on Process Heating, Refractories and Thermoprocessing technologies.  Manuals are available for purchase on our online store.

Improving Process Heating Performance, A Sourcebook for Industry 3rd Edition  - In a recent collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, IHEA has assisted in producing a Free training manual - Improving Process Heating Performance, A Sourcebook for Industry 3rd Edition. This Sourcebook is part of an initiative under the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) and the Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA) which began more than ten years ago when the first Sourcebook was published. The ITP and IHEA undertook this project as part of a series of Sourcebook publications on industrial utility systems. Other topics in this series include compressed air systems, pumping systems, fan systems, steam systems, and motors and drives.

This sourcebook describes basic process heating applications and equipment, and outlines opportunities for energy and performance improvements. It also discusses the merits of using a systems approach in identifying and implementing these improvement opportunities. It is not intended to be a comprehensive technical text on improving process heating systems, but serves to raise awareness of potential performance improvement opportunities, provides practical guidelines, and offers suggestions on where to find additional help.

Training Videos
The IHEA Learning Academy is the place to come for on-line video training in the industrial process heating industry. You will find a variety of educational presentations that run from 20 – 40 minutes in length. These are designed to give you information and provide an understanding of many industrial process heating technologies. We will be adding to our video library frequently. Click here for more information on the videos offered and to download the videos to view.

Member's may view the videos at no charge. CLICK HERE for membership information and to join, then watch our videos at a reduced cost.
